  Most of us avoid challenges. Whether that’s the tensions we experience as we go about our work and life or the conflicts that are present in our relationships or within the dynamics of groups we are part of or responsible for. But what if challenge is an opportunity and when we commit to working through it rather than avoiding it, we can transform ourselves and the systems we are part of. We believe change starts at home but ripples out to the wider society and can positively impact some of the areas where we appear to be experiencing crises. 

This is easier said than done of course! That’s why Haven works with people to support and guide them on this path. That can be in the form of a one-off consultation so people can orientate themselves to take action or it can be a longer-term partnership. We all have the potential to be leaders in our work and lives and this means rising to the challenge when it presents itself.

We use a wide variety of tools and practices to promote dialogue and learning. We partner with our clients to cultivate the skills and competencies needed for the emerging world of work so they may find creative solutions and discover engagement, performance and development in their work.

We work with organisations by creating that space to help people engage with complexity, have more constructive conversations and discover what is theirs to do.

We typically work with:

• Groups and Teams to create the conditions for deeper dialogue, explore important issues from different perspectives and move through conflict towards greater understanding and constructive action
• Individuals to provide confidential space outside the immediate pressures of the organisation to navigate conflict, transition, uncertainty or questions about their work and contribution

There is no single approach to how we work. Depending on what the situation requires, we may work through coaching, dialogue, facilitation, mediation, training or consulting. This might include:

• Individual dialogue and coaching - creating space to step away from the immediate situation, explore what is happening and consider what is yours to do
• Mediation and facilitated dialogue - helping people engage with difficult issues, understand perspectives beyond their own and find a way forward
• Training and development - developing the capacity for collaborative leadership, constructive conflict engagement and deeper dialogue
• Organisational consulting - providing an independent perspective and sounding board when navigating complex or uncertain situations
• Ongoing partnership – supporting organisations that want to develop a culture where people can engage openly, think together and respond wisely to change

Where appropriate, organisations can sponsor individuals to work with Haven independently, giving them space outside the organisation to reflect deeply on a situation and decide how they want to respond. Issues can be resolved discreetly informally and proactively away from the heat of the work environment.
